Cars usually come in a specific set of colors and even not all shades may be available in the UAE for a specific car. However, you might still have your heart set at a particular car color or simply want to change the current shade of your vehicle. Here is how to change color of your car in UAE.
However, before you get into the details to change color of your car in UAE, you should know that you will need the permission of the authorities. This is especially the case if you change the car color via wrapping or painting.
PROCEDURE TO CHANGE CAR COLOUR IN THE UAE
The process for changing car color is quite straightforward. The requirements to change car colour in the UAE include:
- Get a permission or NOC from the authorities to get your car colour changed
- Bring your car to Project Cars
- Go to the registration centre and get the car registered.
However, the process, requirements and fee for obtaining the NOC and registration are different for different emirates. Therefore, this guide will address the procedure in different emirates separately.
CAR COLOR CHANGE IN DUBAI
You will require police clearance for Dubai to change your car color. For this, you file a request with Dubai police CID. You can obtain a NOC in Dubai via these means:
- Dubai Police app
- Dubai Police website
- Visiting the offices
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR CAR COLOUR CHANGE IN DUBAI
- Emirates ID
- Email address
- Vehicle Registration card
In addition to the documents, you will need to submit 5 images of your car. These should be front view, rear view, left side, right side and a full image.
The total cost of a car color changing request in Dubai is AED 120. This includes a fee of AED 100 for service and AED 10 knowledge and AED 10 innovation fee.
Once the color is changed, you will have to get it registered.
CAR COLOR CHANGE IN ABU DHABI
The process of changing car color in Abu Dhabi is similar in Dubai and goes as follows:
- Visit the nearest Salama centre
- Abu Dhabi Police website
Remember, car color changing permission is only granted to the vehicle owner in Abu Dhabi.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
The documents required in Abu Dhabi are:
- Valid Emirates ID
- Vehicle Registration card
The cost of the service in Abu Dhabi is AED 40.
For registration of your car with the changed color, visit the Salama branch for vehicle inspection. After the inspection, they will issue a ‘color test’ certificate to you.
Once you receive the certificate, get your new registration card from the Police counter. However, make sure you select a Salma branch with the police counter. Otherwise, you will have to visit the Abu Dhabi police separately for the registration card.
The registration fee for a changed color car is AED 40. So the total cost will be AED 80.
CAR COLOR CHANGE IN SHARJAH
The procedure to obtain NOC in Sharjah is similar to that of Dubai as well. In this case, you visit the CID of Taharat (Sharjah Police). They provide you with an NOC letter for changing car color. You give the letter to the car color changing company.
You will need a valid Emirates ID and Registration card for the letter.
The cost for car color changing NOC is AED 150.
After you receive the NOC, you get the color changed and then get the car with the new color registered at any registration centre with the required documents. These are Emirates ID and registration card. The registration cost is AED 150 in Sharjah.
